St. John’s Catholic Church (cantonment)
St. John’s Church was one of the earliest churches built in Yangon city. The present church was built in 1900. There are about 600 Catholics. Since it is at the centre of Yangon city and has easy transportation, many Catholics from other parishes come for the liturgical services. Devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Succor has attracted many Catholics, even the non-Catholics. The most celebrated feast in this parish is the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes usually celebrated in February.
