Sacred Heart Catholic Church (Hmawbi Parish)
Hmawbi town is about 36 miles north of Yangon. It is situated at the main road to Upper Myanmar. For a long time this mission belonged to Thonze mission. With the increase of the converts, it became a separate mission in 1972. In 1978 it was made a parish. The people are mostly Kayin and Buddhism is the main religion here. There are about 2050 Catholics. Most of them live in villages. |
