Church of Epiphany (Kaweichan)
Epiphany parish is in the suburbs of Yangon, Kaweichan Quarter in Mayangone Township, established just recently on 6 January 2003 at the time of Bishop Sotero Phamo, the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Yangon and Bishop of the diocese of Loikaw. In 1978, during the time of Archbishop Emeritus Gabriel Thohey Mahn Gaby there were weekly Sunday Masses for the nearby faithful at the Epiphany chapel and the Archbishop himself celebrated the Eucharistic Celebrations. Later on, the visiting priests from the Catholic Major Seminary of Yangon and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Myanmar took turns to celebrate Sunday services.
On 6 January 2003, the Epiphany Parish was set-up, being dismembered from the St. Lazarus’ Church, Insein Parish, Insein Township. There are over 700 Catholic faithful which accounts to a flourishing community with two religious Sisters (SFX) helping in the parish work.
